Most Shuttered NS Businesses Can Re-Open June 5th

Most businesses forced to close because of COVID-19 will be able to re-open starting on June 5th.

Premier Stephen McNeil made the announcement this afternoon.

McNeil also announced an extra $250 million in capital spending, along with a grant of up to $5,000 to help businesses, non-profits and other groups to re-open, and vouchers worth $1,500 to pay for consulting services.

The date for re-opening daycares is being pushed back as the province works with the industry on re-opening plans.

The province had been aiming to have daycares re-open on June 8th but McNeil says they’re now aiming for June 15th.

The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, says all of those re-opening have to continue to follow physical distancing and other public health rules.
