Morien Says No Word From Kameron About Plans To Reopen Donkin Mine

A company with a stake in the Donkin Mine says it has not been notified by Kameron Coal about any intention to restart production at the mine.

Postmedia reports Morien Resources is also claiming Kameron has not disclosed a development strategy or timeline for the mine.

The statement today comes after Regional Councillor James Edwards recently told the CBC Kameron is preparing for the possibility of reopening.

Before that can happen, some regulatory approvals have to be given by the province.

Environment Minister Tim Halman told reporters yesterday his department had not yet received any application from Kameron to reopen the mine.
