More Post-Fiona Funding Available For Farmers

The province has announced a new funding program it says will offer immediate support for farmers who didn’t qualify for federal assistance after Storm Fiona.

It says the $3 million Fiona Agriculture Response Gap Funding program will help farmers with a gross farm income of $10,000 or more who weren’t eligible for the federal Disaster Financial Assistance Arrangements program.

Farmers can get up to $400,000 in assistance.

The province says farmers who filled out an application for Nova Scotia’s Fiona Agricultural Disaster Assistance Program will have a caseworker to help them access the new funding.

Farmers who haven’t filled out an application being advised to email fada@novascotia.ca.

They can also call 902-890-0542.
