More Funding Announced For Housing and Shelter Options

The province has announced more funding for housing and shelter options this coming winter.

The Department of Community Services says $7.5 million will pay for 200 units to provide temporary housing across the province.

It says the money will also be used to buy bed frames, mattresses and desks and support operations.

The Department goes on to say service providers and municipalities will be consulted on where the shelters go, potentially on provincial, municipal and service provider-owned land.

It says the province is also spending $250,000 to support emergency weather responses for people without a home.
