Money Announced For MacEachen Airport

Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway announced $2.2 million for upgrades to the runway at the Allan J. MacEachen Airport in Port Hastings today.

Kelloway says money will be used to remove and replace the middle section of the runway.

The changes are needed to meet Transport Canada’s new standards and to accommodate increased air traffic.

The airport is owned by the Town of Port Hawkesbury and is operated by Celtic Air Services.

It’s been in operation since 1974.
