Mira Gut Man Charged With Abducting Missing Girl

The Mira Gut man who police say was travelling with a missing 14 year-old We’koqma’q girl has been charged with abduction of a person under the age of 16.

47 year-old Darcy Doyle is being held at the Cape Breton Correctional Centre to await a bail hearing tomorrow.

He was arrested early Saturday morning after RCMP say they found him and the girl in woods in the Canoe Lake area near Marion Bridge.

The teen had been missing since August 13th.

Meanwhile, RCMP say they did not issue an Amber Alert for the girl because she was not abducted on the day she went missing.

They say the investigation into the case is ongoing, and more details will be released today.
