Minimum Wage Up 50 Cents

The minimum wage in the province is up by 50 cents an hour, effective today.

It’s jumped from $15.20 an hour to $15.70.

The increase is one of two this year, with the minimum wage going up to $16.50 on October 1st.

The government says the extra increase on October 1st this year responds to concerns about the rising cost of living.
