Minimum Wage Going Up Twice, Next Year

The province says the minimum wage will increase twice next year.

It says the minimum wage will go up from $16.50 an hour to $16.75 on April 1st.

It will then go up to $17 an hour on October 1st.

The Minimum Wage Review Committee made up of employer and employee representatives made a unanimous recommendation for the increases.

It’s also recommending continuing to apply the legislated formula of the consumer price index plus one percent for minimum wage increases.
