Memorial Evacuated Again

Memorial High in Sydney Mines was evacuated once again yesterday after someone set off another smoke bomb in the school.

Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board spokesperson Michelle MacLeod says there was only minimal damage and classes are scheduled to resume today.

The school was also evacuated on Tuesday, and that followed a number of other incidents earlier this month.

The smoke bombs used in earlier incidents at the school were similar to one that caused millions of dollars’ worth of damage at the North Sydney Walmart on November 6th.

There’s speculation some of the incidents involved marine flares that were recently stolen from a business in North Sydney.

The flares that were left at the property have since been removed.
