Meeting On North Sydney Building, Today

A meeting will be held in North Sydney today to decide the fate of a century-old building in the community.

The former Western Union Cable office on Court Street has been boarded up since 1996.

The building’s owner Gerard Dugas says he plans to sell, develop or demolish the building, depending on the level of interest at the meeting.

He adds he’s encouraged by phone calls he’s already had about the building.

Today’s meeting will take place at the Clansman Motel from 1:30 this afternoon until 5:00 this evening.

Dugas says a decision on the future of the building will be made this year.
