Mayoral Race Events, Today

The two declared candidates for Regional Mayor are each holding media events, this morning.

At 9:30 Incumbent Mayor Cecil Clarke will be hosted by the President of Provincial Energy Ventures for a media tour of the company’s facilities.

Ernie Thrasher is also due to discuss the company’s upcoming plans at the Port of Sydney.

And mayoralty candidate Rankin MacSween will discuss child poverty in the CBRM as part of his election platform during an event in Sydney Mines.

The president of New Dawn Enterprises is due to make the announcement at 11:00 at Community Cares Outreach.

In the 2012 municipal election, Clarke took 59 percent of the vote while MacSween picked up 38 percent in a five-person race.

The deadline for candidates to declare their intention of running is September 13^th.
