Mayoral Candidates Make Announcements, Today

The two candidates for Regional Mayor are both making announcements this morning.

At 10:00, incumbent mayor Cecil Clarke is hosting an event at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion in Sydney.

Clarke says he’ll be making an announcement about his plans for the future of the tourism industry and cruise sector in the CBRM.

Then at 11:00, New Dawn Enterprises President Rankin MacSween is speaking at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre.

MacSween says his announcement will deal with issues important to building a more unified CBRM and Cape Breton Island.

In the 2012 municipal election, Clarke took 59 percent of the vote, while MacSween picked up 38 percent in a five-person race.
Municipal and School Board elections take place on October 15th.
