Mayor, Councillors Mark Quiet Davis Day

Mayor Amanda McDougall and Regional Councillors laid wreaths at Miners’ Memorials across the Regional Municipality to mark Davis Day today.

Today’s Davis Day service was cancelled for the second year in a row because of COVID-19.

The June 11th event to honour coal miners killed on the job is named after William Davis.

He was shot and killed by police during a coal miners’ strike in 1925.
