May Inflation Rate Hits 2.9%

Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate for May was 2.9 percent.

That’s up from 2.7 per cent in April.

The federal agency says the May increase was mostly because of higher prices for services, that rose 4.6% in May following a 4.2% increase in April.

It says faster price growth for services was led by cellular services, travel tours, rent and air transportation.

Nova Scotia’s inflation rate for May was 3.7 percent.
