Maureen MacDonald Expected To Resign, Today

There are reports this morning that NDP MLA Maureen MacDonald will be resigning from her Halifax area seat, today.

MacDonald served as interim NDP leader after Darrell Dexter stepped down, following the party’s defeat in the 2013 election.

However, she was given no formal caucus role after new leader Gary Burrill reassigned responsibilities, last month.

MacDonald’s departure will leave the NDP with only five members in the Legislature.

Burrill is also without a seat.
