The sentencing hearing is due to resume today for a Glace Bay man who pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the murder of Laura Jessome from Bras d’Or. 51 year-old Robert Edwin Matheson originally pleaded not guilty to the charge, but changed his plea when he appeared in court in September. Last month, lawyers working on the case said they needed more time to present additional case law before sentencing. Matheson is also facing unrelated charges of robbery and armed robbery in connection to thefts from a Sydney jewelry store and the Sydney River Branch of the CIBC in May of 2012. His judge and jury trial on those charges is set to run from May 4th to May 8th.
