Masking to be Mandatory In Public Places In NS

Non-medical masks will soon be mandatory in public places in Nova Scotia.

The order takes effect a week from today and covers all public and private places where people have full access.

That includes stores, shopping centres and places of worship as well as restaurants and bars, except while people are eating or drinking.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says mandatory masking will help Nova Scotians get ready for a second wave of COVID-19.

Health officials say children under 2 and those with a valid medical reason for not wearing a mask are exempt from the rule.
