Masking Still Required In Schools On Monday

Students and staff will be required to wear masks in schools for a few more weeks.

Premier Tim Houston says he announced the change today based on recent recommendations from a group of pediatricians who’ve said it’s too soon to stop requiring masks in schools.

Houston has also confirmed most pandemic regulations, including physical distancing, gathering limits and masking in most places, will end as scheduled on Monday.

Some measures will stay in place in high-risk settings, such as healthcare and long-term care.

The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang, says he’s still recommending people wear masks in indoor settings and he’s continuing to recommend people limit the size of their social gatherings.

Strang adds quarantining will still be required for those who test positive for COVID-19.
