Masking Still Required In Hospitals and Healthcare Workers Still Need To Be Vaccinated

The Health Authority says all its workers and IWK employees are still required to provide proof of their primary series COVID-19 vaccination, despite today’s lifting of the COVID Health Protection Act Order.

It says it’s facilities as well as the IWK hospital are high-risk settings because of the patient populations they serve.

Nova Scotia Health says current evidence shows the best protection against COVID-19 infection and re-infection is for people to have their primary series COVID-19 vaccine plus natural infection.

It says masking will continue to be required in its facilities and the IWK, except for exclusively administrative buildings and boardrooms.

The Health Authority also says COVID-19 testing centres are gradually closing with increased availability of rapid tests and decreased demand for lab PCR tests.
