Marine Atlantic Trying to Clear Backlog

Marine Atlantic is still dealing with a backlog of more than 200 tractor trailers and drop trailers in the wake of recent bad weather and ice conditions.

The Crown Corporation cancelled yesterday’s ferry crossings because of high winds in the Cabot Strait.

This morning’s sailings are scheduled to go ahead.

Spokesperson Darrell Mercer says the smaller ferry the Leif Ericson will be brought back into service today to handle some of the backlog.

Mercer adds with a total of four vessels in service, they should be able to clear things up.
