Marine Atlantic is leasing a ferry to replace the 35 year-old Lief Erickson that’s being retired.
The Crown Corporation says the ferry recently operated in southern France.
It says the vessel can carry both passenger and commercial vehicles and will increase the overall capacity available on the Marine Atlantic service.
It has cabins, restaurants, and seating areas like other vessels in the Marine Atlantic fleet.
The new ferry is scheduled to arrive this summer and will undergo modifications to allow it to use Marine Atlantic’s docking infrastructure with a goal of having it ready to enter service in the fall.
