Marine Atlantic Ferry Stuck in Ice, Overnight

Marine Atlantic says the MV Highlanders eventually managed to free itself after getting trapped in pack ice, last night.

The ferry got stuck on its journey from North Sydney to Port aux Basques.

The Crown Corporation is warning passengers of potential delays due to ice conditions.

Both the Highlanders and the Blue Puttees got stuck in ice, last week.

The Coast Guard ice breaker Henry Larsen has been helping the ferries cross the Cabot Strait.

 Meanwhile, officials say they were working to clear a backlog of 200 tractor-trailers at the Marine Atlantic terminal in North Sydney, yesterday.
