Many Cancellations With Second Blizzard in Two Days

The cancellations are rolling in as Cape Breton gets hit by a second blizzard in two days.

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board has cancelled classes at all schools again, today with board offices due to open at noon.

The Marconi Campus of the community college and Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney are also closed today.

And Cape Breton University is closed for the morning with the status of afternoon classes to be announced by 11:30, this morning.

The Regional Municipality says the Civic Centre in Sydney will delay opening until 11:00, this morning.

Roads on the Island are described as snow-covered with icy patches and poor visibility in blowing snow.

The Englishtown ferry service is suspended because of weather conditions.

This morning’s 9:55 flight to Halifax has been delayed until 10:50.

And, Marine Atlantic has delayed crossings, yet again, because of weather conditions.

The Crown Corporation says the ferry won’t leave North Sydney until 11:45 tonight, weather permitting.
