Many Cancellations in Advance of Blizzard

Cancellations are starting to roll in, in advance of today’s spring blizzard.

All classes are cancelled in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board, today.

The Marconi Campus of the Nova Scotia Community College and Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney also closed for the day.

However, Cape Breton University is open this morning and will announce the status of afternoon classes at 10:30.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled all crossings for today and tomorrow due to forecasted high winds in the Cabot Strait.

All today’s flights from the Sydney McCurdy Airport to Halifax are cancelled from 9:15 on and Maritime Bus isn’t running, today.

The Department of Transportation is warning that high winds may cause delays and interruptions at the Canso Causeway, today.

Cape Breton Regional Police are reminding drivers that the winter parking ban remains in effect until March 31st.

Vehicles can’t be parked on the street between the hours of 1and 6:00 in the morning, as well as during any snowfall and within two hours from the time snow stops falling.

And, all green cart and garbage collection in the CBRM is cancelled today and will take place on Saturday, instead.
