Many Cancellations and Police Asking Drivers To Avoid Unnecessary Travel

Regional Police are asking drivers to avoid unnecessary travel this morning.

They say blowing snow is limiting visibility, and the roads are snow-covered and slippery.

As a result, classes at all schools in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board are cancelled, today along with Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney.

The Marconi Campus of the Community College now says it will be closed today after saying it was delaying opening, earlier this morning.

Cape Breton University is closed this morning and says it will announce the status of afternoon classes by 11:30.

Cape Breton Transit buses are not travelling this morning and the service will be reassessed at noon.

And the Regional Municipality now says garbage collection is cancelled today after saying it was going ahead, earlier this morning.
