by Premier Stephen McNeil announced a new mandatory COVID-19 testing rule today for rotational workers who work outside the province.
Those workers had been expected to get a test soon after coming home but McNeil says they’re not all doing so.
Rotational workers will have to complete their full 14 days of modified self-isolation, even if they have a negative test result.
They’ll have to get tested on day one or two and again on day six, seven or eight.
The province says audits will be done to check testing data for randomly chosen rotational workers.
If they didn’t do their first test, they’ll get a phone call reminding them it’s mandatory and they’ll get a thousand-dollar fine if they don’t get their second test.
