Man Successfully Rescued After Search In Howie Centre, Overnight

Regional Police say they found a missing 84-year-old man in the Howie Centre area early this morning with help from Ground Search and Rescue.

They say family contacted police at around 8:30 last night after looking for several hours on their own for the man who had wandered from his Edgewater Drive home.

Police say they found the man at around 3:30 this morning when he responded to searchers who were calling out for him.

They say he was discovered in a boggy area about 500 metres behind the graveyard at the top of Edgewater Drive.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance for further assessment.
