Man Fined Under Health Protection Act Granted Bail

A Glace Bay man fined for breaking COVID-19 public health rules twice has been released on a thousand dollars’ bail ahead of another court appearance next month.

38 year-old Justin Kristopher Tobin was first fined on Wednesday night after Regional Police say he went to a Sydney business while he was supposed to be self-isolating.

Police say Tobin was intoxicated that night and caused damage at the Regional Hospital in Sydney after being brought there for treatment.

He was arrested again the next afternoon after a homeowner in Glace Bay complained about an intoxicated person banging on their door and asking to be let in.

Tobin is facing three counts each of mischief and causing a disturbance and he’s been fined over 11,000 dollars for a second offence under the Health Protection Act.

He’s due back in court on February 14th.
