Man Charged With Second Degree Murder After Sydney Mines Assault

Regional Police say the man arrested after an assault in Sydney Mines early yesterday morning has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

Police say 31 year-old Tyler Anthony MacNeil from Georges River has been remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre.

They say they got called to Beech Street at around 3:30 and found a man lying on the road with serious injuries.

They say officers gave the man CPR until paramedics arrived, but he was later pronounced dead after being taken to the Regional Hospital in Sydney.

Police say a man was arrested after witness information led them to the area of Cambridge Street and Clyde Avenue.

They say the investigation is ongoing but they say they continue to treat the assault as an isolated incident.
