Man Charged After Port Hawkesbury Hit and Run Due in Court

A 21-year-old Port Hawkesbury man is due in court today after being charged in connection to a hit-and-run in the Town.

Police say they got a call about a man struck by a vehicle in the Causeway Shopping Centre parking lot shortly after 7:30 on Thursday night.

The vehicle then left the area.

A 26-year-old Port Hawkesbury man suffered what police say are minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Forest Douglas Baker faces counts of dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon, Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle as well as Uttering Threats and failing to Remain at the Scene of accident.

He was held in custody over the weekend to await today’s court appearance.
