Man Charged After Baseball Bat Attack

Cape Breton Regional Police say the 32-year-old man arrested after a baseball bat assault in Glace Bay yesterday has been charged with two counts each of Aggravated Assault  and Assault with a Weapon as well as 2 Breaches.

He’s due in court later this morning.

                                      

Meanwhile, two people remain in hospital this morning after yesterday’s assault.

 

Regional Police say they got the call to a rooming house at 223 York Street at around 11:20, yesterday morning

They add a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

 

The man was later airlifted to Halifax hospital for further treatment of head injuries.

 

The woman remains at the Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

Police say they quickly tracked down and arrested the suspect in the attack.

 

They add they found the weapon which had been thrown away on MacLean Street with the help of the K-9 unit.

 

Police say the suspect also lives in the building and is known to the victims.
