Man Arrested In Sydney Mines After Weapons Complaint

Regional Police say a 60-year-old man was arrested after a weapons threat that led to a lockdown at a school in Sydney Mines today.

They say officers were called to a home on Main Street at about the noon hour when they got a report of a threat mentioning a weapon.

Staff at the nearby Sydney Mines Middle School were told about the threat and put the school on lockdown as a precaution.

Police say the man was alone in the home and he was arrested at about 1:00.

They say officers seized knives as well as an air-gun.

Police have cleared the area and they say charges are pending.
