MacNeil Pleads Guilty To Manslaugther In Jessome Case

One of two Glace Bay men charged in the murder of Laura Jessome from Bras d’Or has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the case as his trial was due to start, today.

25 year-old Morgan James MacNeil originally faced a charge of second degree murder in the case, along with 41 year-old Thomas Ted Barrett.

Last month, MacNeil was granted his request to be tried separately from Barrett.

MacNeil and Barrett were charged after Jessome’s body was found in a hockey bag pulled from the Mira River in July of 2012.

MacNeil will be remanded to a provincial correctional facility and will return to court on November 18th to be sentenced.
