MacMaster Provides Budget Update

Finance Minister Allan MacMaster says the province is now projecting a deficit of $142.6 million for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

That’s an improvement of $363.6 million from the deficit projected in the March budget.

MacMaster says total revenue is now $14 billion.

That’s up by $1.3 billion from the budget estimate.

Meanwhile, the province says people can now share their thoughts and ideas for the next provincial budget by taking part in annual pre-budget consultations.

People can submit their suggestions by emailing budget@novascotia.ca.

They can also send a tweet to @NSFinance, send a letter to the Department of Finance or speak with their MLA.

The deadline for submissions is February 3rd.
