Lots of Cancellations and Drivers Being Asked To Avoid Unnecessary Travel

Regional Police are asking drivers to avoid unnecessary travel, this morning.

Sergeant Joe Farrell says he’s been out since 6:00.

Classes at all schools in the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board are cancelled, today along with Etoile de l’Acadie in Sydney.

The Marconi Campus of the Community College is also closed, today.

Cape Breton University is closed for the morning and the status of afternoon classes will be announced at 11:30.

Transit Cape Breton buses aren’t running this morning and the service will be reassessed for noon.

The Regional Municipality says garbage collection is cancelled, today and City Hall is closed until noon.

All provincial government offices in Cape Breton will delay opening until 10:00, this morning.

Some flights at the McCurdy Sydney Airport are cancelled today so people should check with their airline if they’re planning to fly.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled this morning’s crossings from both North Sydney and Port aux Basques.
