A Baddeck woman has been reunited with the engagement ring that was stolen from her seven years ago.
Perla MacDonald’s husband Craig sold his beloved 1986 Monte Carlo to buy the diamond solitaire ring when he popped the question fourteen years ago.
It was a snowy Christmas Eve when Perla’s purse was stolen from her car, which contained both her wedding band and the engagement ring. She’d taken them off while she worked a shift at a cafe nearby.
A search for the purloined purse proved fruitless, and Perla and Craig gave up on finding the ring.
Then seven years later, a ten-year-old girl named Addyson Garland was picking up litter roadside as part of a community cleanup when she found a brown, mud-soaked purse.
The purse contained motor vehicle registration papers in Craig’s name, and a diamond solitaire engagement ring.
When the ring came home, Craig re-proposed, in front of the couple’s children. Perla said yes.
