Long term care workers represented by CUPE are holding 20 information pickets across the province today with the final day of conciliation talks scheduled for tomorrow.
CUPE says the goal of the pickets is to spread awareness about their bargaining priorities and the chances of an upcoming province-wide strike.
Wages have been the main outstanding issue in contract talks, and the workers will be in a legal strike position within 48 hours if a deal isn’t reached tomorrow.
Seven of the information pickets are taking place in the CBRM, with pickets in Sydney, Sydney River, Membertou, North Sydney, Sydney Mines, Glace Bay and New Waterford.
