Local Veteran Vows to Continue VA Office Battle

A local veteran says he’s not backing down in his fight to get closed Veterans Affairs offices re-opened.

Ron Clarke from Georges River was at the forefront of protests leading up to the closure of the Sydney VA Office over the winter.

Clarke is now working with other veterans from across the country to gather donations for what’s being called the “Canadian Veterans War Chest Fund”:

Clarke says that he and other members of his group meet once a month through a conference call.

He adds they’re planning to travel across the country to promote the re-opening of the eight Veterans Affairs offices that closed on January 31st.

Clarke says he’s also prepared to campaign against the Harper Government if it doesn’t reverse the closures.
