Local Musician and Former Sydney Alderman Eddie Parris Has Died

Well-known, local entertainer and former municipal politician Eddie Parris has died.

The Whitney Pier man died at the Regional Hospital on Saturday at the age of 75.

As a musician and singer he performed with the Edsils, the Black Cats and Roy Cummings Orchestra, before starting his own band, the Eddie Parris Orchestra.

In his retirement years he created and led the Inspirational Singers.

Parris served as a Sydney alderman and deputy mayor in the 1970’s and 80’s.

His wake will take place at the Pier Community Funeral Home from 2-4 PM and 6-9 PM on Wednesday.

A funeral service for Parris will be held at the United Heritage Church in Sydney at 11:00 on Thursday morning.
