Local Groups Getting Funding To Address Food Insecurity

The province says a number of local groups are getting funding to help people dealing with food insecurity.

The Department of Community Services say the one-time funding is divided among 122 organizations across the province totaling $10 million.

$500,000 is going to the Pan Cape Breton Food Hub, with $200,000 for the Legion in Louisbourg, about $24,000 for the Glace Bay Food Bank and $10,000 for the North of Smokey Food Bank.

Other local recipients include the Ally Centre of Cape Breton, the Citizens Service League and the UNIA in Glace Bay and the Every Woman’s Centre in Sydney, as well as groups in Membertou, Eskasoni, Waycobah, Wagmatcook and Potlotek.
