A North Sydney couple says they’re continuing their legal battle with Cape Breton Regional Police, despite a police board ruling earlier this week that found an officer guilty of discreditable conduct.
Stephanie Bonner and Edward O’Quinn were involved in a property dispute with relatives of Constable John Campbell, and the police board found Campbell behaved inappropriately toward Bonner and O’Quinn.
However, the couple plans to continue pursuing a civil suit against the police force and the municipality.
They say the police board decision didn’t address of all their complaints against police.
The board says it was unable to address some of the complaints because they weren’t filed within a six-month deadline.
That’s led the board to advise police to make people fully aware of the public complaint process as soon as a complaint is made.
