Liberals Say There’s A Dramatic Increase In Ambulance Offload Times

The Opposition Liberals say a freedom of information request shows ambulance offload times at emergency departments in the province have drastically increased over the last two years.

The Liberals say the biggest increase is at the Regional Hospital in Sydney.

They say offload times there are up 181% between August of 2021 and March of this year.

The Grits says 12 of the province’s 38 hospitals couldn’t be included in the comparisons because of their emergency departments being shut down.

The release of the data comes after health officials told a Legislature Committee yesterday offload times at emergency departments are improving but still stand at a provincial average of 75 minutes this week.
