The provincial Liberals are now demanding Progressive Conservative candidate Susan Corkum-Greek be withdrawn from the provincial election.
The move comes after Corkum-Greek’s campaign manager Peter Zwicker, admitted he bought $51.75 worth of gift cards to hand out to patrons at the Tim Horton’s in Lunenburg.
Zwicker says Corkum-Greek didn’t know what happened and he’s resigned from her campaign.
But the Liberals say they’ve filed a petition under the Controverted Elections Act looking for a declaration from the Nova Scotia Supreme Court the gift cards constitute corrupt practices and a bribe contrary to the Elections Act.
They say if the court grants the petition it would disqualify Corkum-Greek from being eligible to be elected to or sit in the House of Assembly.
