Legislature Sits Today For First Time Since Election

The Legislature is sitting for the first time today since the August provincial election.

The first session of the 64th General Assembly is convening for one day only, for the election of a speaker and appointment of a deputy speaker or speakers.

The session will see some MLA’s in the Legislative Chamber with others attending virtually because of COVID-19.

The Progressive Conservatives won a majority of 31seats in last month’s election.

The Liberals have been reduced to opposition status with 17 seats and the NDP have six seats.
