Legislature Reconvenes This Afternoon For Rare Summer Sitting

The Legislature is reconvening this afternoon for a rare summer sitting.

Premier Tim Houston called for the emergency session to deal with the recommendations of an independent panel on MLA salaries.

The panel is recommending a 12.6 percent raise but Houston says this is not the time to raise MLA pay.

The Liberals and NDP agree with Houston on that point.

However, because the recommendations of the panel are binding the raise will happen if MLA’s don’t take action.

The Legislature is scheduled to resume at 2:00, this afternoon.
