Legislature Being Recalled To Deal With Recommendations On MLA Salary Increase

Premier Tim Houston is recalling the Legislature a week from today to deal with the recommendations of an independent panel on MLA salaries.

The panel is recommending a 12.6 increase in MLA pay.

But Houston says this is not the time to increase the pay for MLA’s with inflation at a 40-year high and many people struggling to make ends meet.

The Progressive Conservatives say the recommendations of the panel are binding and the raise will happen if they don’t take action.

The Legislature resumes to deal with the matter at 2:00 in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 26th.
