Last Flight Left Sydney Airport, This Morning

The last flight out of the McCurdy Sydney airport for the foreseeable future left for Toronto at 5:21, this morning.

Air Canada announced last month it was suspending air service to Sydney effective today with the number of people flying dramatically reduced because of the pandemic.

WestJet suspended service to the airport in November.

Meanwhile, more than 51-hundred people have signed a petition in support of passenger air service at the airport.

It calls on Ottawa to provide financial support to the airline industry during the pandemic.

People can find a link to the petition on the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce website.
