Premier Stephen McNeil says no decision has been made on an interim chief of staff after Glace Bay native Kirby McVicar resigned from the post, yesterday.
McVicar tendered his resignation after being accused of breaking privacy laws by making medical information about former Liberal cabinet minister Andrew Younger public.
McVicar’s resignation comes a day after he tried to deal with a controversy surrounding a conversation Younger secretly recorded with him.
The former chief of staff told reporters he offered Younger’s wife a job on the recording to take some pressure of Younger because the MLA told him he had post-traumatic stress disorder and a brain tumour
The Premier says McVicar acted alone in releasing the information about Younger and adds he hopes McVicar’s resignation spells the end of the controversy.
But Opposition leader Jamie Baillie is says he still has a lot of questions for Stephen McNeil.
