Johnny DeMarco, Artist of the Week

Johnny DeMarcoJohnny DeMarco was born and raised in Vancouver and started performing at the tender age of 13. Johnny realized when he started performing some of his own originals, audiences showed interest in his music and soon it became his vocation.

Johnny DeMarco is a songwriter/performer who understands the value of a well-crafted song. Be it a ballad…soundtrack or a rocker, Johnny’s powerful, melodic and anthem oriented radio-ready songs are jam packed with attitude, honesty and integrity. His intent on creating a catalogue of timeless musical works that address various and diverse themes are evident, and reach out to people from all walks of life.

Johnny’s newly-released album, “Living Out Our Dreams”, offers a distinct and diverse character to each song. With dynamic memorable melodies, moving string arrangements and soaring chorus(s) “Living Out Our Dreams” is delivered with emotion, passion and intensity and much thought is given to the importance of the lyrical content and its message. The album was recorded at The Armoury, Premier Studio and the Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, BC and features some of Canada’s and International finest musicians. Johnny’s song “I’m Gonna Find My Way” from the “everything matters” album found its way on the Odd Squad’s compilation fundraising CD for street youth, with the likes of Bruce Springsteen as well as a list of many other respected artists.

Johnny’s music resonates with the public in many different markets. The single, “I’m On Fire”, was featured on the USA television show Higher Ground and gained international success playing to audiences in the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe. Johnny also wrote “We Are All Canucks”, which is played to 20,000 fans at every Vancouver Canucks hockey game.

As Johnny points out, “Song Writing is a gift and in this ever changing and challenging world of music, I’m inspired to keep it real, fresh and current”. When not writing music Johnny is a crusader for children’s charities and has travelled to Brazil and Africa to help children living with HIV/AIDS.
