January Inflation Rate 2.9%

Statistics Canada says January’s national inflation rate was 2.9 percent.

That’s down from 3.4 percent in December.

The federal agency says the biggest contributor to the drop in inflation was lower year-over-year prices for gasoline in January.

It says price growth for groceries also slowed year over year last month compared with December.

Nova Scotia’s inflation rate for January was 3 percent.
